Cider Museum

Anybody who decides to explore this museum will leave knowing about the process of pollination, the apple varieties used in the production of cider, the selection criteria and the work required in the production of cider. The visitor can also enjoy the reconstructions recreating scenes closely related to the consumption of cider, such as the llagar, the chigre or little bar and the traditional games and folklore related to the production and consumption of cider.

Jurasic Museum of Asturias

Situated at the heart of the Dinosaur Coast, this museum which is built in the shape of a tridactyl footprint is worth seeing just for the architecture. It is full of information and fossils from the Age of the Dinosaurs.

School Museum

Located in the oldest school of the village, the building was built in 1908, with capacity for 120 students and a house for the teacher and his wife, also a teacher. Visitors are immersed in an atmosphere from another era. A large collection of furniture and school materials dating from 1911 until 1970, provide a faithful reflection of an era and a very clear contrast to present-day schooling. The museum takes you on a chronological journey through the history of education in Asturias within a broader vision of the way of life of teachers and students in a rural environment. The museum belongs to the Red de Museos Etnográficos de Asturias, a network of ethnographic museums in Asturias.

Bodegas El Gaitero y Fundación Cardín

The permanent collection of the firm El Gaitero, the largest llagar or cider works in Asturias, records the history of this one hundred year old firm. The exhibits include paintings, photographs, manuscripts, advertising material, processed products and many curiosities related to the story of a business known worldwide for its famous cider. The visit can be combined with a guided tour of the cider works.

Visitors Centre of the Ría de Villaviciosa

El Centro de Interpretación de la Ría de Villaviciosa tells us, through its panels and exhibits, about different aspects of the estuary, such as its tidal movements, the formation of porreos or marshes, its flora, and its abundant birdlife and wildlife. In short, one can learn a lot about this natural reserve, with its 8 km of fluvial valley, which is considered to be one of the estuaries of greatest biological importance  in Asturias.

Ruta de los Molinos del río Profundu (PR.AS-137) Villaviciosa

If you follow the upper river walking through thickets and deep forests, you pass by a score of old water mills.


Ruta de Las Foces del rio Pendón (PR.AS-45) Nava


Starting from the vicinity of the spa of Fuensanta where you can find the bottling plant of the famous mineral water of the same name, you'll penetrate the depths of the forest and walk by the ravines that form the course of the River Pendón.

Ruta de Peña Cabrera (PR.AS-52) Cabranes


Walking through the dense deep forests, to the path of the river Profundu, are presented to us more than twenty old water mills.


From Santolaya to the town of Viñón, this path takes the hiker through gentle farmlands, deep forests and landscapes with breathtaking views. A stop at the recreational area of Peña Cabrera will help you recover strength to end the tour in Viñón where you can visit the Museo de la Escuela Rural mentioned above.
